Android App Reviews at OneGoodAndroid

Welcome to my Blog! One Good Android, where I will review at least one good Android application every day. If you use a different device please visit my other blog One Stop Tech Source, where I talk about anything and everything involving the latest and greatest gadgets, games, software and the Internet.

My top 10 Android Apps

These are the Apps I use the most, the ones I feel help me out in some way. I'm not a big game player on my phone, I prefer to play on my computer but there is one game I use as a time killer and its on this list.

The list is in no particular order, none of these apps compete with one another. Just click on the name of any app and it will take you to their homepage, enjoy!

1. Dropbox - I've done a detailed writeup on this file sharing program, moving files around your different devices can be a pain. No need to suffer, just use Dropbox.

2. GO SMS - This texting app will blow you away with its beautiful themes and the addons such as see thru texting and location texting (with the press of a button it will tell the recipient via text where you are located using your gps.)

3. Gmail - If your using an Android then you had to create a Gmail account, if your not using it as your default email provider...your loss.

4. Angry Birds - There are several versions out now and any will do to keep you busy while waiting in the dentists office. You can usually find a free one on either the Android Market or the new Amazon Android Marketplace.

5. Google Maps - Probably the most important app you can have especially if your car didn't come with navigation. This app comes with navi and its as good or better than any you can buy in the store. It has all the features of any car or portable system you can buy. Voice guided turn by turn and touch screen, a must have for anyone that drives. It even has walking and cycling choices as well.

6. Facebook Widget - Most of you know what widgets are, they are apps that are always open and viewable on your home screen. The Facebook Widget should already be available in your widgets but if its not then download the app from the market and it will be.

You can set how often you want it to update and see your friends and family in its 2x2 box on the screen. It will show whoever was the last in your friends list to write on their wall. When you click it the user interface will open and you can do whatever you want.

7. Google Search - To me this seems like a widget that everyone would have on their home screen but I know lots of people that don't use it. Why wouldn't you want the ability to touch your phone and speak into it and have your Google search pop up within seconds? You can set it to search your phone, contacts and or the web only, I have mine set to search the Internet only.

8. SlideIt Keyboard - If you were lucky enough to have Swype built in on your phone then disregard this app. Its a keyboard where you just slide your finger from key to key and tada your word appears. Unless your using an Evo or similar sized phone then those keys are tiny and you mess up alot typing, SlideIt will change your typing life and you will be speed texting in no time.

The feature to speak and have your words turn to text works great, I always forget its there but you could easily write a book using it and save your fingers the work.

9. ShopSavvy Barcode Reader - This app uses your camera to scan bar codes on items and bring up local and online prices, a great way to get the best deal. The other use for it is when you see an app on the internet you can scan its code on your monitor with your phone and it will open the apps location in the Google Market.

10. Adobe Photoshop Express - Its free and its easy to use and it does the job. Those are usually my top three reasons to keep an app. Adobe really did us all a favor when it released this editor for our Android phones. Just install it and forget searching and trying out different photo editing apps, this is it.
